Initial Psychiatric Assessment
A comprehensive assessment by Dr Dennisa Davidson that goes into details of life history, past and current difficulties, and goals for the future. Based on this assessment, a 'formulation' is made which gives an idea of 'why' this young person is going through this issue(s) at this time. A recovery plan will be made in line with the formulation. This plan will include lifestyle interventions, therapeutic recommendations and, if needed, medication recommendations.
Dr Dennisa usually combines this with education about your/your child's condition as much as allowed by time, so that you feel in control of the condition.
It is useful to get as much information as you can provide, before your consultation.

Follow-up Psychiatric Consultation
Dr Dennisa Davidson works toward your/your child's recovery with the goal of being either medication free or on minimal medication in the long term. This means that psychiatric consultation would combine therapy and review for either need for medication or dosage of medication. An hour is usually needed for this. However, there are times when lesser time is required - Dennisa will discuss this with you.
Sometimes family or professionals meetings such as with schools, may be needed as part of psychiatric consultation.

Psychologist
Dr Ahmad will do an initial assessment of past and current difficulties and explore life experiences and/or personal factors that may have had a role to play in these. Following this, she will share with you her formulation and collaboratively develop goals and management plans. This will help equip you with skills and shape your mindset to function to your potential. Dr Sahrish realises that talking about personal issues is difficult, and she approaches these topics skilfully with sensitivity and empathy. She may sometimes need to have a family or professionals’ meetings as part of the consultation process.

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

NMT Brain Mapping
A detailed history of life experiences and supports that were available at each life stage is taken and a clinical assessment made of the functioning of each region of the brain. This is put into an online form that is part of a centralised system maintained by the Neurosequential Network. The 'Brain Map' showing your/your child's brain function region by region, in comparison with what is expected for a child of similar age and for a mature adult, is obtained. The NMT brain map also shows function by various domains such as sensory processing, integration, relational and cognitive functioning. Recommendations for lifestyle and therapeutic interventions are provided which are then individualized for you/your child.
You can choose to do a NMT brain map simply as a stand alone, one-off assessment.

Sensory Diet
A sensory diet is a tailored programme consisting of sensory activities in an individual’s routine to enable them to regulate and participate more effectively at home, school and in the community.

Sensory Assessments
Some children have difficulties with their senses such as being sensitive to loud noises, touch seeking or avoidance, aversion to foods with certain textures, being clumsy and so on. This may be a sign of difficulties with sensory processing. Such children can benefit from a sensory assessment.
Sensory assessments helps gain insight into how a person perceives the sensory environment and how this affects a person day to day, both at home and at school. Through such assessments Pela can help gain insight into your child's sensory environment and make recommendations to help support participation in meaningful activities through adaptations to activities or changes to contexts.
This assessment takes around 6hrs of total input, and includes assessments at two different locations.

Sensory Modulation Sessions
Pela provides individual sensory modulation sessions to help those with difficulty with their senses. Sensory modulation is an evidence-based tool. It is the brain's ability to regulate its own activity; managing how much sensory input to tune into at any given time. Sensory tools can be used to help people use their senses to learn self-soothing techniques, and change their emotional and behavioural responses to stressful situations. For example, they can help a person feel calmer when distressed or help activate someone experiencing depression. It is important for an individual to learn about their sensory preferences and how to implement sensory tools in their day to day lives to participate more effectively at home, school and the community.
